About AI

Yes, we do use AI tools (Claude Code, mostly).

In fact, we use them a lot. They help us create structure, move things around, even make creative decisions. They convert our feeble sketches into nice-looking diagrams. They also made the beautiful logo for Domain Prototyping and the pattern icons when we prompted them to.

They help us collect research material, and they review and critique our work. In many ways, they have improved and still improve the content and design of this website and the reading experience.

They NEVER decide what goes into the text, nor did they come up with the concepts and ideas behind Domain Prototyping.

Consequently, all the errors, typos, and other shortcomings you may find on this website are perfectly human hallucinations, and we are prepared to own them. We are perfectly capable of getting things wrong all by ourselves, and really don't need AI to help us with that.

For example, you will find em-dashes everywhere, because of a design decision we made on day one, and because they still look good. They were all placed by hand, except a very few we automatically converted back then. We briefly considered replacing them when automated tools decided that humans would never use them — just to make sure people wouldn't cry foul. We ended up deciding against it, because — really?

Any suspicious phrasing or word choices that may look like AI slop were selected and placed there by a non-native English speaker with a peculiar taste — which arguably could be more original, and probably just plain better, too.

If you stumble across any such phrases or word choices and find them irritating, please drop us a (non-AI-generated) email, and we'll consider replacing them. We won't say we guarantee it, because that peculiar taste will still want to have the final say. But we will listen. Promise.
